Industry and Investment NSW (I&I NSW) offers a Graduate Program that provides work experience and training to enhance professional development and future career opportunities. Industry and Investment NSW provides strategic advice to Government on developing the economic capacity and productivity of metropolitan and regional areas and delivers programs and services to secure innovative and sustainable business and development for NSW. Industry and Investment NSW assists in building a diversified state economy that creates jobs. We aim to attract investment to NSW and support innovative, sustainable and globally competitive industries through our strong technical knowledge and scientific capabilities. We do this through effective partnerships with our industry sectors and by linking them to our state's knowledge and skills capacity. State & Regional Development and Tourism Division - Operating at the interface between the private and public sectors, the Division is a unique public sector service. It offers you the opportunity to work at the leading edge of business development in NSW and gain valuable experience in government that will benefit your career in either the private or public sectors. Energy Branch, Minerals and Energy Division - Through consultation and policy development the Energy Branch is focused on helping determine how New South Wale's can generate its energy; distribute safe, sufficient, reliable and cost-competitive energy to consumers; play a part role in growing natural energy market; encouraging private investment in New South Wales; and, supporting, regulating and monitoring the New South Wales energy industry.
Essential Skills: Selection Criteria

  • Recent tertiary qualification with studies in business, commerce, economics, engineering, government, law, marketing, science, tourism or similar;
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work successfully in a team;
  • Ability to use initiative and manage projects;
  • Well-developed problem solving and strategic thinking skills in a business context; and
  • Ability to undertake research and contribute to policy development/project management.

Desirable Skills:
Additional Info: Graduates are graded as Departmental Professional Officers (DPO). The starting salary in 2010 will be $50,100 per annum plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading (total package of $55,285).
