Job Title: International Programmes Internship
Job Specification: For many years the Federal Court has provided development assistance to judiciaries across Asia and the Pacific. The Court is currently recruiting interns to assist its International Programmes office. Part- time internship positions are available within the Principal Registry (minimum 2 days a week), Sydney for a minimum of three months, starting in November 2009. The positions are unpaid, and applicants are expected to meet all their own costs.
Essential Skills:

  • Demonstrated administrative, logistical, planning and organisational skills, and the ability to work to deadlines and handle concurrent tasks
  • Demonstrated motivation and interest in international development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct comprehensive research
  • Fully proficient computer skills and ability to use relevant software applications, in particular, information databases, internet, Microsoft Office applications, internet and library resources 6.Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work with others

  • Assist with the day-to-day logistical, administrative and financial arrangements
  • Draft correspondence, briefings, training and preparatory materials
  • Conduct research on developmental aspects of law, policy and procedure
  • Draft newsletters, proposals and reports 5.Other duties as required
