Careers Fairs

 Meet with employers

Throughout March and April there will be a variety of opportunities to meet with employers who each year recruit significant numbers of graduates.

Some employers will be on campus conducting Information Sessions, while others will be participating in our on campus Careers Fairs.

BE PREPARED TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF THE CAREERS FAIR

Consider what you are hoping to get from your attendance at the Fair - chances are you wish to identify different industries you are interested in, and which employers may be interested in your discipline.

  • Review the employer list and which disciplines they seek.
  • You might like to focus your questions/enquiries on:
  • what roles do graduates traditionally do within the organisation
  • where might you end up in 2 to 3 years time
  • do they encourage professional development
  • is there a formal graduate development program
  • what's the general feel/culture of the organisation
  • what does their recruitment process involve (closing dates, online applications, assessment centres etc)
  • what would be the best way for you to get more detailed information regarding their organisation, its clients and financial performance
  • what are the key things they look for in their recruits (academic, work, personal qualities, extra curricular activities etc)

If you are completing your studies next year you need to identify if they offer work placements, vacation work, or industrial training.

REMEMBER: This is not an interview situation, but these people may interview in a month or so.

So ... be polite, be enthusiastic, be interested!
