Career of the Week

Working for AusAid

  • Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people in developing nations?
  • Do you have a degree in Development Economics, Economics, Asian and Pacific Studies, International relations/Political Studies, Government or Public Administration, Education, Health, Environment/Agriculture/Forestry, and Law or Legal Studies?

If so, you should consider a career with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID). AusAID is responsible for managing the Australian Government’s overseas aid program. They provide policy advice and support to the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary on development issues and develop and manage effective and innovative poverty reduction programs. These programs are constructed in partnership with developing countries, Australian businesses, non-government organizations (NGO’s) and international agencies. For information on the Graduate Development Program, check the website www.ausaid.gov.au over the coming weeks.

There is also a Youth Ambassador Program for those that would like to participate in a short term assignment with AusAID. This program offers skilled Australians (aged 18-30) a wonderful opportunity to contribute to development while learning about other cultures (in Asia and the Pacific). Assignments for the next intake and details of information sessions are posted on the AusAID website.
